About Raston
Hi! My name is Raston Dengure a born Zimbabwean whom moved to Huddersfield aged 7. My drumming experience began within my culture in my native country using djembe, talking drum, Bougarabou, Drum ensembles and more. Thankfully, Kirklees Council provided drumming lessons for various primary schools including mine. Performing at the Mrs Sunderland Festival in 2008 cemented the decision in excelling my drumming skills. Since then, I have been developing my drumming skills for 16 years providing in class and 1-1 drumming lessons in various primary and secondary schools within Merseyside. Beyond all my greatest achievements graduating with a degree, playing at fantastic events. I’m still am really passionate about teaching because i believe it really is a privilege to be able to play and listen to music so it’s important for all my students to understand that, all the skill set developments on the drums will follow. Whether beginner or experienced, Let’s Drum!

EXAMPLE OF an 6 WEEK DRUMMING PROGRAM:
Week 1: Understanding rhythm and coordination ( no equipment).
Week 2: Follow on with development, familiarity with drums.
Week 3: Using the drums to create a full rhythm.
Week 4: Independent drumming session (no pressure).
Week 5: African & Caribbean techniques.
Week 6: Final performance/piece incorporating teachings from previous 5 weeks.
