About Sheena
Hi, I’m Dr. Day — a performing and creative arts practitioner, researcher, educator, and coach with a PhD, MA, and BFA… but don’t worry, you can just call me Sheena.
I’ve spent years exploring what it means to create, perform, and teach in ways that integrate technique, creativity, and artistic voice. I believe that every artist already carries the seeds of their unique expression, and my role is to guide, accompany, and support you as you uncover and develop what’s always been there.
My background spans a wide range of performing and creative arts practices, and I’ve worked with artists at all stages—from emerging performers to experienced creators. I bring a transdisciplinary perspective to everything I do, integrating vocal technique, acting, songwriting, composition, and improvisation in ways that reflect each student’s individual goals and curiosity.
Outside of teaching, I continue to explore my own creative practice through performance, composition, and collaborative projects. I’m passionate about helping performers discover their voice, take creative risks, and grow with confidence, and I love witnessing the moments when students realize something new about themselves as artists.
In addition to coaching, I have taught theatre, voice, and dance courses as an Assistant Professor at several universities. I have also performed and created works internationally as a singer, actor, dancer, songwriter, composer, choreographer, and director. I am also an active researcher of neurodiverse performing and creative arts practices, regularly publishing and presenting at conferences internationally. I am deeply passionate and committed to practices that account for diversity.

My coaching approach is collaborative and responsive. You bring deep knowledge of yourself, your body, and your creative impulses, and I work alongside you to help uncover and strengthen what has always been there. Rather than imposing a fixed method, I support you in discovering pathways that feel aligned with your goals, curiosity, and artistic voice.
Many performers have multiple goals they want to explore at once, whether developing vocal technique, acting through song, performance presence, creative exploration, or composing their own work. This is why I teach using a transdisciplinary approach—sessions are designed to address technique and creativity simultaneously, allowing your artistic voice to emerge naturally as we work on these goals together. We discuss your objectives in detail and design a flexible plan that evolves with your practice, so every session is responsive to where you are that day.
Lessons begin with a check-in, where we revisit your goals and consider how you are feeling that day—physically, creatively, and emotionally. This is a shame-free and non-judgmental space, and together we decide what will be most useful to focus on in that session.
At the end of each lesson, we recap what we worked on, identify what to carry forward, and clarify how you can continue developing these areas between sessions. The aim is not only progress, but growing confidence, agency, and clarity in your own artistic process.
These lessons are ideal for performers and artists at all levels—emerging, advanced, returning, or those working across disciplines—who are interested in developing technique while deepening their creative practice in a flexible, exploratory, and integrated way.
