About Patrick
I coach students from very diverse backgrounds with different needs and interests from Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Latin America.
I worked as a journalist for international newspapers and news agencies covering a wide range of subjects.
I lived and worked in many countries and I understand the challenge of learning a new language under pressure!
I was brought up in England and France which gave me a taste for languages and different cultures. I also speak Portuguese and some Spanish.

I teach English and French:
- English as a foreign language from lower intermediate to advanced.
- French from beginner and day-to-day conversation to advanced.
My lessons are designed to match the specific needs of each student: to build vocabulary and confidence by focusing on real activities and events and drawing on many years' experience as a journalist reporting, writing and editing.
Each activity aims to help students build up their confidence using the target language with a strong focus on understanding and communicating.
I coach students, adults and professionals who want to improve their knowledge and confidence. Lessons may focus on practical needs for a job, preparing for an exam or a holiday trip, or simply to get regular practice in the language.
Face-to-face tuition: I am based in Richmond but I can travel to your home or office in other areas.
Online lessons are via Skype, using email and video materials.
I am available Monday to Saturday from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm.
