About Isla
I hold a Bachelor of Music in String Performance and a Master of Music in Violin Performance. During the last 11 years, I have worked with students preparing for auditions, recitals, examinations, and personal musical goals. My fascination with violin began through ensemble performance, solo repertoire, and years of dedicated study. Teaching became a natural extension of that passion because I enjoy helping learners discover their strengths. Watching students grow into confident musicians continues to inspire me.
My teaching approach combines careful technical instruction with thoughtful mentorship. I believe that successful learning requires both skill development and emotional support. Lessons are tailored to each student's goals while maintaining clear direction and structure. Technical concepts are explained in accessible ways that help learners build confidence step by step. This creates a learning environment where progress feels achievable and rewarding.
Outside teaching, I enjoy chamber music, score study, and exploring violin repertoire from different periods. These interests help me bring fresh ideas into lessons and keep learning engaging. Seeing students achieve goals they once considered difficult is deeply fulfilling. I strive to create lessons that are encouraging and effective. My goal is to help every learner develop lasting confidence through music.

My violin lessons are designed to help students progress with confidence while maintaining a healthy and enjoyable relationship with music. I focus on practical methods that support busy learners and those who sometimes feel nervous during practice or performance. Students learn techniques such as mental fingering, silent bowing exercises, visualization practice, air violin training, performance memory development, tension awareness, and relaxed preparation routines. These methods allow progress to continue even when time with the instrument is limited. Every lesson combines technical growth with mental preparation to create steady improvement.
I understand that every learner has different responsibilities, goals, and learning habits. Some students need flexible strategies that fit into a busy schedule, while others benefit from confidence-building exercises that reduce performance anxiety. Lessons include guided practice planning, posture awareness, memory training, relaxation techniques, and musical interpretation activities. Students receive clear guidance and practical feedback that helps them improve consistently. Small successes are celebrated because they build long-term confidence and motivation.
My goal is to help students feel calm, prepared, and capable whenever they play. As technical and mental skills develop together, learners often discover greater freedom and enjoyment in music. Lessons encourage patience, self-awareness, and independence. Every achievement becomes a meaningful step forward. I want students to feel supported throughout their musical journey.
