About Margaret

I am pursuing an Honors Bachelor's Degree at Queen's University in the social sciences, with a specific focus in philosophy and politics. I am an honors student with a 4.2 GPA, a Loran BMO Provincial Scholar and an Ontario Scholar with previous experience tutoring elementary school students. I have proudly watched all of my former students unlock their full potentials as learners, helping them to achieve the grades and the self-confidence in their abilities they need to succeed!

About the lesson

I am passionate about learning and believe that with the right support every student can achieve their academic goals! It is important to me to know each student as a learner and understand their individual goals so that I can best support their success. I work to tailor lesson plans to the student's unique learning style to support their understanding of concepts and their ability to retain the information.

At our first meeting, I want to learn about your academic goals and what you hope to get out of our sessions. Then, together we'll design a plan to help you achieve!

In a typical class, we'll spend a few minutes reviewing the material from our previous session. I'll go back over any points you want further clarification on, and happily answer any questions you have! Then we'll move on to new material and do practice exercises to reinforce your understanding of every concept we cover. Struggling with Shakespeare? Let me help you break down his text and understand his writing style. Need help honing your essay writing skills? Let me coach you through writing an introduction that hooks your reader, a clear and thoughtful thesis, body sections that clearly convey and support your argument, and a conclusion that drives your thesis home. Together we'll enrich your love of English, building your confidence and your grades at the same time!

Details

Cancellation Policy: I do not charge a cancellation fee if you provide me with 24+ hours' notice of the cancellation. I am flexible with rescheduling lessons or arranging a "make-up session" for a missed session. If a student needs to cancel due to illness or an unanticipated personal circumstance, there is no cancellation fee. If a student cancels with less than 24 hours' notice, I charge a $10 (half of my rate) cancellation fee.
