About Lily

Hello! My name is Lily, and I’m an experienced English tutor with a strong academic background in writing and literature. I hold an Associate’s Degree and have completed extensive upper-division coursework in writing and literary studies, including a wide range of literature classes.

I specialize in helping students:

Improve essay and paragraph writing

Strengthen grammar, sentence structure, and clarity

Build reading comprehension and literary analysis skills

Gain confidence in school assignments and class discussions

I also have classroom and student-teaching experience, which has helped me learn how to explain concepts clearly, meet students where they are, and adapt lessons to different learning styles.

My tutoring style is patient, encouraging, and structured. I focus on helping students truly understand what they’re learning rather than just completing an assignment. Whether your student needs homework help, writing support, or deeper understanding of literature, I’m happy to help.

I work with elementary through high school students and can also assist college students with basic composition and literature courses.

My teaching approach is structured, supportive, and tailored to each student’s individual needs. I believe students learn best when they feel encouraged and understood, so I focus on building confidence alongside strong reading and writing skills.

A typical lesson begins with a brief check-in to identify what the student is currently working on or struggling with. From there, we review key concepts, practice together, and apply skills through guided exercises or real assignments (such as essays, reading passages, or homework). I always end lessons by summarizing what we covered and offering clear next steps or practice suggestions.

What sets me apart as a tutor is my strong academic background in writing and literature, combined with classroom and student-teaching experience. I’m skilled at breaking down complex ideas into manageable steps and helping students understand why something works, not just how to complete an assignment.

My lessons are designed for elementary through high school students, as well as college students enrolled in introductory English, composition, or literature courses. I offer support in reading comprehension, grammar, essay writing, literary analysis, and overall academic confidence.

My goal is to help students develop lasting skills they can use independently—both in the classroom and beyond.
