About Yimfoong
My name is Yimfoong. I graduated with a biology degree from the University of Virginia. I am an incoming medical student. With a 36 on the ACT Math section and an 800 on the SAT math section, I possess a strong foundation in high school math. With a 5 on the AP Calculus BC, 5 on the AP Calculus AB subscore, and a 5 on the AP Statistics Exam, I also possess a strong foundation in introductory calculus. I have always found math to be very interesting and I also volunteered as a high school math tutor in my high school's math center. If you struggle with math (whether it be on an AP Exam, SAT, or SAT), I am the tutor for you. I will work with you to find strategies that work for you and I will accommodate your various needs. Math can be a challenge, but with the right strategies, adequate practice, and a willingness to work hard, you can improve.
I also tutor high school and introductory college-level biology and chemistry. Having worked as a chemistry teaching assistant in college, I have worked with many students with various learning needs. Science classes can be challenging and confusing at times, but, just like math, with the right strategies, adequate practice, and a willingness to work hard, you can improve. I will work with you to develop a study plan and work with you every step of the way through this challenging journey.

My first lesson will include identifying your strengths and weaknesses and I will work with you to develop a detailed schedule of what you should do to practice and study on a weekly basis. In subsequent lessons, we will start off with reviewing practice problems and concepts that you find challenging. I am a strong believer in active learning and doing many practice questions to ensure that you know how to apply your knowledge to exam questions. The best practice is to send me problems that you have been struggling with before the start of the lesson. During the lesson, I will go over any questions you may have and work through practice problems together with you. I will demonstrate how to do more challenging problems and detail each step. As lessons progress, we will adjust the schedule based on your needs. I will work with you to find videos and practice tools to make your learning experience more engaging (reading and retaining information from textbooks and articles can be very challenging at times).
In college, I was a chemistry teaching assistant and was promoted to be head teaching assistant one summer. In high school, I volunteered as a tutor in my high school's math center and was a volunteer Taekwondo Instructor (I am a 2nd-degree black belt). With my experience, I have worked with many students with various learning needs. I work with students who need support with math ranging from high school algebra to introductory college calculus. I also tutor high school and introductory college-level biology and chemistry. At the end of the day, I am here for you and will work with you every step of the way to meet your needs.

Perfect! Explained how to do the questions well and helped me a lot
- Today, we worked on kinetics problems and rate law problems. We managed to go over 42 practice problems during our 75-minute lesson. The biggest thing to do is to do as many practice problems as possible and make sure you can apply the mathematical concepts to various problems. I look forward to seeing you at 11 AM on Thursday.
