About Jake

I have a passion for learning and teaching others, I worked as a mentor in my previous job role and understand how different people approach learning. Mathematics has been my favourite subject for as long as I can remember, and although I feel a real natural understanding of the subject, I can relate to how tricky and hard to grasp some of the concepts may seem. Most importantly, I like to have fun! Lessons with no fun and solely reading a page or question are much less likely to stick with you.

About the lesson

Learning should not be difficult, but it is! Generally, at school lessons can be boring, and perhaps not tailored to the individual weaknesses that bring you down when assessed. What I would expect is for the student to have a selection of questions that they are struggling with, and to let me see these before the lesson, along with what specific areas of the question you may be struggling with; I will then look over them before our lesson to figure out the best way to approach the questions and how we can get you doing some on your own. Once you are comfortable, I can find some other similar questions and possibly some more challenging and work through them with your new knowledge! I currently study Mathematics at university and am coming to the end of my course - this means all my knowledge is fresh in my mind! I was an A* student during my A-Levels obtaining 4 A*s in STEM subjects. Learning is something that can be easy for everyone, it is just finding the right methods for each person, with my own perspective from someone who still is actively learning, I should be able to better see where your struggles lie. My lessons are mainly for A-Level or beginner level University Mathematics, but can also cater to GCSE.
