About the lesson
As everyone learns differently it is important to have a range of different teaching approaches, whether visual, verbal, or learning by example. All are very important to providing a well balanced and successful tutoring service. I believe that students need a friendly face and not someone who is just another teacher.

Mackenzie is a great tutor , he was able to teach me a whole exam in a week at a good learning pace and used an array of tutoring tools to get me to a good point of ability to do the exam , big ups Mackenzie
Mackenzie made me confident for my algebra exam and I got the result I wanted. Would recommend Mackenzie to anyone looking for someone to tutor them.
Giving Mackenzie the daunting challenge of taking me from high school math to university level Mackenzie rose to the challenge and provided excellent tuition.
Mackenzie was great! Super patient and knowledgeable. Feeling way more confident about the upcoming semester. Thanks!

01
When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?
Ever since I was young I always had a special place in my heart for math (as cheesy as it sounds), and math & physics have always been subjects that have made sense to me, although I definitely know what it is like to struggle with a subject. Tutoring was just the next natural step, as I love helping others to achieve that sense of learning a topic.
02
Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).
I teach all kinds of mathematics and physics, whether that be basic algebra or general relativity and I love all subjects that require a little bit of complexity (or a lot). I also certainly have some subjects that I struggle with myself, although I like to view these as a new challenge for my brain 🙃.
03
Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?
Of course! I have many fond memories from my high school classrooms, but my biggest inspiration is definitely my mother, who taught primary school children locally for most of my childhood (what a hero).
04
What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?
Definitely patience and understanding. Technical knowledge and intellect are super useful to be a tutor, but learning how to transfer that knowledge is the biggest challenge as everybody learns differently.
05
Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.
In primary school I cried after messing up an arithmetic calculation, and my teacher was so kind that I forgot all about it. Lesson: math doesn't care about your feelings, but your teacher should!
06
What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or are still facing in your subject?
Making basic mistakes. I have learnt that making mistakes is the only thing I will do forever, and it is just part of the process. No matter how complex the math is, I will still end up pressing the wrong button on my calculator (it just happens).
07
Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?
I definitely do love to teach, but my true passion is football (the kicking ball kind). Some things just can't be explained I guess.
08
What makes you a Superprof?
My love for Lola from Shark Tale, I know you know.
