About Matthew
A physics graduate from the University of Warwick and an ex-software engineer looking to take on students to teach Maths & Science.
My passion for teaching was realised on the Capita graduate scheme when I personally taught an industry standard software engineering practice to a team of 10-15 people over the course of a few months, taking a lead on a team project. As Maths & Science was one of my most favourite subjects going through education, I decided to offer tutoring in both subjects.
The qualifications that make me suitable is a Warwick physics degree, A-Levels A*A*A In Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics respectively and 7A* and 4A at GCSE level.
My first student was an adult learner who wanted to pass her PGCE maths aptitude exam. Before she came to me she failed several times but then with practice and my tuition she eventually passed.
Since then I have tutored for just under a year and have delivered over 50 high quality lessons to over 5 repeat students.

I believe that success is the result of a good development of knowledge on the subject and that understanding rather then rote memorization is key. This gets especially important later on in academia or in work when trying to solve problems or understanding the job at hand.
I also believe in the can-do attitude where every student can achieve their potential given the right development and teaching. The professional and academic experience I have gained means that I have many transferrable skills to offer. Such as listening skills when I had to replicate software from what the clients say, or organisational skills when I had to manage my own workload during the training contract at Capita. I also am passionate about my student's progress and helping them to reach their potential.
