About Isabelle
For more than 20 years, I've been teaching French in very different parts of the world, in a variety of settings (French high schools abroad, vocational schools, Alliance Française, local schools...) to students of different ages, levels and languages. I spend 10 years in Canada, Vancouver and Toronto.I am familiar with the requirements of diplomas and the different school levels in the French system, as well as the expectations of the DELF exams. I am trained in cognitive and behavioral neuroscience, as well as in working with young people with special needs to enable them to be included in their classrooms. I listen to my students to best meet their needs.
Listening, adapting, supporting and helping are the keywords of my teaching approach.

It all starts with a connection and a warm welcome. It's important to find the right words to put in place the best strategies after expressing your needs. Each lesson is unique, specific and non-judgmental. I try to explain as much as possible, aiming for the useful, the simple and the effective. I build on the learner's qualities and try to reduce the obstacles to learning (I'm rubbish, I don't understand anything, French isn't for me....). My documents and aids are unique and as far as possible playful, to enable long-term learning. I also take care to establish effective work habits.
