About SOFIA

Hi!
I am a dancer and passionate dance teacher from Spain. I have trained since the age of 3 in ballet and flamenco dance. I attended 180 grados professional program with classical ballet mentor Ángela Santos. Later on, I received different scholarship to accomplish my desire of learn modern dance (Graham, Limón and Horton mainly). I travelled to ROME to understudy at Technique Di Danza Moderna and 2 years later moved to NYC on a Fulbright Fellowship to study at the José Limón Dance Institute. I have also completed my credentials at the Martha Graham Dance School.
I have worked as a dance teacher at La Miranda International School in Barcelona, La Bayadare Escuela de Danza and taught and coached private lessons. I have taught from 3 to 70 years old. I speak Spanish, English, Portuguese and French, so we can speak any of those during the lesson.
My classes moved to a wide range of variety. Yet classical ballet is the main subject I teach, I have also love teaching my students modern-based dance, contemporary, dance improv, flamenco and sevillanas and conditioning and dance workout.
I am passionate about my job, and I really think movement is an universal language everybody can speak!

About the lesson

My lessons are rigorous and funny at the same time. Each dancer choose movement and dance for a reason, so I try to accomplish those goals during the time we spend together.
I accommodate the age and discipline each student need, so that at the end of the day, they can feel they have had a great time and learn a lot about their bodies and dance.
I prepare for competition and auditions. I also love teaching amateur students.
