About Qing

I am an international student at the University of Melbourne, a native Mandarin speaker with fluent English. I used to be the leader of Chinese Students Association in primary school. Moreover, I was the president of junior high recitation club. I have a deep passion for language and communication.
I am dedicated to teaching basic Mandarin, focusing on helping beginners build a strong foundation in the language. My goal is to create an engaging and supportive learning environment where students can develop their speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills with confidence.

About the lesson

My approach to teaching Mandarin is student-centered and interactive, focusing on building a strong foundation in the language through practical and engaging lessons. I use a combination of visual aids, real-life scenarios, and repetitive practice to reinforce learning. My methodology emphasizes speaking and listening skills, ensuring that students are not only able to understand Mandarin but also communicate confidently in everyday situations. I believe in the importance of cultural context, so I often incorporate cultural elements into my lessons to deepen students’ understanding and appreciation of the language.
Each lesson is typically one hour long. I find this length ideal for maintaining focus and engagement, while allowing enough time to cover new material and review previous lessons. A typical session might start with a brief review, followed by the introduction of new vocabulary and grammar, and then practice through conversation, reading, and writing exercises.
As a native Mandarin speaker and fluent English speaker, I bring a deep understanding of both languages to my teaching. Although I am still building formal teaching experience, my role as President of the Recitation Club has provided me with strong communication skills and experience in language expression. My passion for teaching and my friendly, supportive approach make me a natural tutor who is committed to helping students succeed.
My lessons are designed for beginners, including both children and adults who are starting their journey in learning Mandarin. Whether you’re learning for personal interest, travel, or to communicate with Mandarin-speaking friends or family, my classes are tailored to meet the needs of each student, helping them build a strong foundation and grow their confidence in using the language.
