About Allison

Hi! I’m Ms. Shapinko, a middle school English teacher who truly loves helping students become confident, successful writers. I work with 6th–8th grade students and specialize in everything from essay writing and reading comprehension to grammar, organization, and test prep (ISEE, SSAT, MCAS, and more).

My teaching style is fun, supportive, and super engaging. I use creative activities, real-life topics, and step-by-step strategies to make learning feel less stressful and way more doable. I’m especially great at helping students who feel “stuck,” overwhelmed, or unsure where to start. We break things down together, build skills quickly, and celebrate progress along the way.

About the lesson

I focus on building confidence while breaking down skills into clear, manageable steps. I use engaging strategies, real-world examples, and structured supports (like paragraph organizers and sentence starters) to help students truly understand—not just complete—their work.
