About Michael
I have worked with students one on one and in small groups for several years from one grade level to the next, helping them improve their reading comprehension, writing, math skills, and prepare them for standardized tests. I’m comfortable doing informal assessments to identify gaps, building individualized plans around what each student actually needs, and adjusting my approach on the fly based on how they respond. I’ve worked with students who need patient, foundational support, and students who are capable but need structure and strategy to reach their academic goals, and I know those require very different approaches. Whatever the goal is, I’m committed to helping your student make real, measurable progress.

My current work in special education has influenced the way I tutor: I meet students at their point of need, adapt to their learning needs, and break down assignments into clear, manageable steps. I also have years of experience tutoring reading, writing, math, and standardized test prep (MCAS, SSAT/ISEE, HSPT, PSAT/SAT, and ACT), so I am comfortable supporting students of many goals and skill levels. My journalism background helped me to focus on detail, organization and communication, so I am able to explain concepts clearly and support stronger writing. My lessons are patient, structured, and practical with an emphasis on building skills and confidence.
