About Lisa
My training was intensive and studio-based: close to 1,400 hours each of drawing and painting, plus nearly 1,000 hours of composition and art analysis. I've kept up an active studio practice since, which you can see some of in my video, and combined with my art history background it gives me a pretty complete view of painting, both how to make it and how to really look at it.

i care a lot about fundamentals - how to really see proportions, how to mix and control color, how light builds form, how to organize a composition that actually holds together. Once you understand those things, everything gets easier and more interesting, whatever direction you want to take it.
I also have an art history background, so sometimes we'll look at paintings together and talk about what's actually happening in them technically. It sounds like extra work but it genuinely changes how you see and make things.
Practice makes perfect - we'll look at your work analytically, understand what's working, and build from there.
