About Sarv

Personally, my lifelong love of literature has always been my means of reckoning with life. From reading Roald Dahl's Matilda as a child, to more recent work at Oxford analyzing the works of James Baldwin through the philosopher Emmanuel Levinas, my interest in literature has always been the result of my curiousity to understand how different people relate to the world they are living in, and my love of discerning language.

About the lesson

I am a curious, reliable student and teacher of English Literature, with a precise eye and dedication to language. My tutoring practice is rooted in the basis of personal feedback on written work, which is then further discussed and supplemented by strategies and advice in lessons.

Regarding AP tutoring:

Having been one of the few students at my public high school in New York to achieve a 5 in both the AP English Language and AP English Literature exams, I am intimately familiar with the demands of the courses and exams.

Regarding College Application tutoring:

As an editor at a literary magazine and longtime copy editor, I am experienced in guiding writing processes, and spotting technical errors. Having successfully applied to 9 universities through both the Common App (U.S.) and UCAS (U.K.) systems, I am familiar with the ins and outs of both, and can help in the process of writing Common App essays, personal statements, and supplementary essays from conceptualization to final edits!

Note: my first (free) lessons are intended as introductory consultations, in which myself and the student can become acquainted, and the needs and goals of the student can be outlined, so that further lessons can be tailored precisely to suit their timeframe and objectives.
