About Joe
I am an undergraduate at Oxford University studying History. I took my A levels at Balcarras Comprehensive in Cheltenham, achieving straight As at AS and A level in History, English and Philosophy and Ethics. In my first year at Oxford, I received a First class grade, a result which was eighth in the year out of over 200 other candidates. I have a passionate interest in humanities students, and have always had an interest in teaching; so I would like to give something back and try and help others excel in these subjects.

I believe that in a humanities subject, it is integral to really think patiently and critically about the nature of the text, whether that be a history primary source, a poem or a Philosophy textbook. My lessons would focus on looking to get the student to pay close attention and focus to reading, as a way of drawing out the skills necessary for the examination, but also their own creative responses. I would look to give advice and encouragement, but work with the students' ideas rather than be a lecturer.
