About Ben
I’m Ben, I am a theoretical physicist with a PhD in from the University of Oxford. My teaching experience began during my undergraduate years, when I tutored students one-on-one, and continued through graduate school, where I served as a teaching assistant leading tutorials for advanced courses. I genuinely enjoy meeting each student where they are, and I believe anyone can understand difficult material when it's explained clearly, patiently, and in the right order. I take pride in breaking complicated concepts down into intuitive, manageable pieces, and I build each session around the individual student, so our time together is always focused and productive.

I teach mathematics and physics to university students and adult learners of all kinds, supporting both introductory coursework and more advanced, specialized material. My lessons cover math topics such as calculus, linear algebra, differential equations, real analysis, complex analysis, and statistical modeling, and physics topics from mechanics and E&M through to quantum physics, statistical mechanics and thermodynamics, general relativity, and quantum field theory.
My approach is patient, encouraging, hands-on and built entirely around the individual student. A typical lesson starts by finding where the confusion actually begins. From there we rebuild understanding step by step, using clear explanations, worked examples, and plenty of practice until the ideas click. I focus on helping you understand why things work, not just how to get the answer, because that's what makes knowledge stick and turns a difficult subject into an interesting one.
More than anything, I love the moment when something that once felt impossible suddenly makes sense, and I'll keep working alongside you until we reach it. I started at the bottom of my class and worked my way to the top. I know what it’s like to feel lost, but I also know that with patience and the right guidance, people are capable of far more than they imagine. Whether you’re tackling a subject that feels out of reach and want to build confidence, or you're already doing well and eager to push further, I'd love to help you get there.
