About Rowan

I am a driven and charismatic individual who has tried their hand at many professions meaning I have a well-rounded personality and a good perspective. I am also known to be bubbly and funny which means I get on really well with almost all kids.
Since I started being a TA I realized how much fulfillment teaching can g and when youbuild a connection with a students and see them progressing there is no better feeling. I was fortunate to receive a wonderful education and I want to be able to give that back to others. Since then I have branched into private tutoring (including residential) for kids of all ages with really great results!

About the lesson

My methods are highly personalized but always focused on a few main principles.

1. We will always try to make lessons exciting, dynamic and bubbly. That’s who I am as a person and it makes children much more likely to engage.

2. Hard work. As much as we want lessons to be fun and not dreaded, they are only worthwhile if we are then using that to churn through material.

3. Not just teaching ‘what’ but ‘why’. I always do my best to encourage my students to think for themselves and understand why things work how they work and not just wrote facts. This is especially true in creative writing where my mantra is ‘show don’t tell’.

4. Always challenge ideas. Links to the above but I want my students to be confident challenging ideas and finding their own opinions.
