About Rachel
My name is Rachel, and I’m a proud graduate of UCLA (BA) and Oxford (MA), where I studied European History. Over the past few years, I’ve honed my writing skills as a content writer for a legal firm. In my free time, you can often find me at local coffee shops, immersed in historical epics from my ever-growing reading list. My passion for teaching English blossomed through helping my husband, a native Russian speaker. In just three years, he advanced from a beginner to professional English proficiency—without a single formal lesson—simply through our conversations! My lessons have a practical focus. That is, you will learn English as you will encounter it in the real world, whether through conversation, books, or TV shows. I don’t believe in memorizing boring grammar rules (I never did). Rather, I emphasize learning through experience and developing an intuitive knowledge of correct (and colloquial) English. A typical lesson will include reading subject material of the student’s choice, practicing conversation, or reviewing academic/work essays for grammar and narrative structure. The specific focus of each lesson will depend on the student’s individual goals. These lessons are intended for adults learning English, as well as students from elementary through high school age who would like help with reading comprehension and writing skills.
