About Jonathon
I have more than 6 years of tutoring experience across multiple collegiate Academic Support centers. In this time, I have had the pleasure of working with students on writing from every academic and creative discipline. My tutoring experience also included working closely with English Language Learners.
Additionally, I have several years of combined student teaching, substitute teaching, and classroom teaching experience in English Literature and Literacy classrooms.

Lesson Plans are dependent upon the student's needs and the assignment at hand. In general, we will focus on thesis and topic sentence writing, outlining, supporting arguments or supplying evidence, issues of style and conventions. I will also work to develop good study and writing habits.
For papers, students should bring at least one copy, preferably two. I will address the student's concerns with the assignment at the beginning of the lesson to guide our reading. We will read the paper together and look for both strong writing and areas in need of improvement.
For drafting papers or outlining, the student should bring whatever they have - even if it is just a sentence and a prompt. We can discuss the source material, draft an outline and thesis, or just talk about possibilities for addressing the prompt or assignment. If desired, I can assist in beginning or continuing the researching process for papers that require sources outside a prompt or piece of literature.
For English or Literature focused assignments, I cannot offer a specific lesson plan, as assignments vary wildly by individual classroom instructor. I can offer my assistance in understanding themes, symbols, motifs etc. in classic and contemporary literature, as well as a breadth of experience in numerous writing-focused assignments and projects.
