About Scott
I've had lessons from multiple teachers, at times even simultaneously. Learning from many sources' books, videos, and self-experiment with recording. I have been writing and recording my own music almost since I began trying to play (I didn't say it was good, but that shouldn't stop you -oh and humor is important too) I have played in numerous cover bands throughout eastern PA both as a guitarist and bassist, and a few spots with a mandolin. Moving to Florida and teaching for music and arts for the first 15 years or more until changing all lessons to strictly online. I am also the musical half of a performing acoustic duo. With doing acoustic versions of popular music, I'm able to mix all parts of a song into the guitar part I play, it takes some imagination, and I like stepping outside of the expected parameters of this is your guitar part. I'm not stuck in a right and wrong way for my playing or my teaching unless it is inhibiting you from accomplishing the sound we need to get. If it is then we need to fix it.

lessons are 30 to 60 minutes in length once a week, online and live. So I can hear and see you play and we can make corrections, have questions and answers in real time. With each lesson you will get whatever materials you need for your practice for the week song tab, chord chart, scale fingerings, etc - as well as a video link that you can access anytime to help you with what we are working on for that week's lesson. More advanced lessons will have a big emphasis on music theory. While I don't have a degree myself, I have helped many get through their college theory courses and juries. I have had students come to tell me they ended up minoring in music because they kept taking music courses as they were easy credits with all we had done in music lessons with me.
Every student is different in strengths and weaknesses. I will help you to improve your weak areas and develop your strengths. We all want to get to the same place, but the path that gets us there is as unique as each of us. I move at your pace; and I will guide you in learning. This is different than just telling you what you should know, I like my students to be able to think for themselves. The goal is to not need a teacher for a lifetime

We began using Scott after purchasing a guitar for our daughter over six years ago, and she has continued learning from Scott to this day. Scott has been flexible with scheduling and his online tutoring has been enjoyable and convenient for her. We believe that Scott's teaching has been very beneficial now that she is learning violin in school as well. At times, her high school band teacher will ask the class a musical theory question, and our daughter is the only one who has the answer, and she always tells me that she learned it from Scott. We highly recommend Scott.
I am very glad to give this recommendation for Scott Zettlemoyer as being a Superprof instructor. I have known Scott for over 20 years and have had the pleasure of watching him perform as well as teach. Scott shows an ability to teach students at all levels of competency. His patience makes the learning experience fun for students. Scott’s dedication to teaching and his obvious love for music make him ideal to be a part of your team.
Scott is an outstanding music teacher! His passion for music is evident in every lesson, I’ve personally experienced it for 10+ years I’ve been his student. He doesn’t just teach you how to play; he ensures you fully understand the music theory behind it, which has deepened my appreciation for the art. Scott goes above and beyond to answer any questions and makes sure his students feel supported. His dedication and personalized approach make learning both enjoyable and enriching. Highly recommend him to anyone looking to truly understand and enjoy music!
Excellent teacher, great patience and knowledge. I have been taking bass and guitar lessons from Scott for the last 7 years my playing has drastically improved to the point I've started a band and we've written over 200 songs.
Scott is an incredibly kind, incredibly patient guitar instructor. He seamlessly blends practical concepts with music theory instruction, teaching both technique and encouraging personal expression at the same time. He's very reliable, and he can also be flexible when the situation calls for it. The very best thing about Scott and what makes him a truly outstanding instructor is that he legitimately takes an interest in and cares about his students. He's not just a great guitar teacher, and a talented musician himself, he's an all around great person. This really comes through in his instruction. Grateful to him for the 8 years he was our son's dedicated guitar teacher, across several instruments.
My son began guitar lessons with Scott his senior year of high school. Fast forward 5 years later and he is in a band as lead guitar!
Not only did Scott teach him the fundamentals, he also gave him an appreciation/love of music. That is a gift one takes for a lifetime!
Thank you Scott for making music fun!Scott has taught our daughter guitar for several years. He is an excellent teacher. He always goes above and beyond expectations. He is very patient, and always takes time to explain everything. He has our highest recommendation.
