About Thomas
Since I was 14 I taught and coached in a variety of disciplines often in sports such as skiing, sailing but also as a trumpet player. My 8 years of experience running a film production company taught me the ins and outs of film production and taught me how to communicate with clients and collaborators in order to get them onboard film production projects and make sure their needs are met. I am currently a 3rd year university student in an outdoor leadership undergraduate program at the University of Quebec in Chicoutimi. During my studies I discovered the effectiveness of the experiential learning methodology, which is a hands-on/trial and error learning method focused more on practice and less on theory. To my great satisfaction, this experience has enabled me to help my students, clients and business partners accomplish their objectives.

My approach to teaching is based on practice and experience. It is directly inspired by experiential learning methodologies such as the ones by David A. Kolb an American educational theorist, and Simon Priest, an outdoor experiential education professor and researcher. Like them, I believe that the best way to learn anything is by experiencing it hands-on and through trial and error. That applies to learning the art of filmmaking. In my lessons, the classic "sitting down and take notes" approach is used to a minimum. My goal is to clarify your needs and help you get started on a project that will enable you to gain the skills necessary for you to work on personal film production projects or advance your filmmaking career. Example : - We discuss to clarify your needs. - We figure out you want to develop film directing and cast/crew motivation skills. - We set up a custom plan or a project for you to develop these skills. - You enact your plan and I coach you during the process based on your needs. My lessons are for beginner and emerging filmmakers as well as hobbyists. If that sounds like you, I'm your guy!
