What is an oud, an oud, you have to imagine it like a violin. It doesn't have frets like a guitar or saz, so you don't really know what note you would play. But there is a simple trick that your teacher doesn't want to tell you specifically, gives him more money because more hours!! most "teachers" on the internet, but also in real life will tell you to palce the left hand that you use to press the notes at the very top of the fingerboard, but this is totally wrong, so as a beginner you will become for several Months of never hitting the right note and losing interest in learning, that's how I felt when I was a beginner! You take your left index finger and middle finger, put them tightly together, then go to the top of the fingerboard, and where the index finger is now, this is where you put your thumb but before you do that, of course you have to tune the instrument, please go to play store, download the Oud Tuner app, open it, take your instrument, let's start with the bass strings, right at the top the thickest string is always Fa, i.e. F, then comes La, i.e. A, then Re, i.e. D , then sol, i.e. G, then Do C, there is actually also a sixth string, but i don't use it because it makes you lazy, I want you to be able to use the whole fingerboard as an example! Now we come to the individual notes on the first string from the top is, as you now know, the bass string Fa on this string you will find the notes Fa diyez, let's say in Arabic, i.e. F Sharp, Sol G and La bemol, i.e. A semitone on the next string are the notes Si flattened, i.e. B semitone, Si normal B and Do C, then the Re string, the D string, here you will find Mi flattened, i.e. E semitone Mi normal, i.e. E and Fa on the next string the notes are Sol diyez, i.e. G Sharp normal La A and Si B bemol on the last string is do sharp, i.e. C# re, i.e. d Jawab, which means something like high D, and mi bemol Jawab, i.e. high E.
