About Simona

PROFESSIONAL PROFILE Vocalist / Lyricist / Songwriter. Extreme (Growl-Scream), clean and operatic vocals. Master's Degree in Opera Singing. Extreme vocalist (extreme vocality), Vocal Coach, Performer, student in Artistic Vocology at the University of Bologna. Mezzosoprano- Alto SKILLS AND COMPETENCES Lyric Singing, Modern Singing Growler / Screamer, Vocal Coach, Performer Phenomenology / Musical Aesthetics Artistic Vocology ADDITIONAL INFORMATION My musical journey begins in childhood, in fact I dedicate myself to my first musical training at the Anna Micheli joint institute , where I began taking piano lessons from 2000 to 2003. At the age of twelve I then approached the study of the electric guitar, at the Donna Olimpia Popular Music School, Monteverde; finally, at the age of seventeen, I began to study singing, starting to take lyric singing lessons at the Popular Music School of Testaccio, with maestro Margherita Pace. In the meantime, I cultivate the study of modern singing in parallel, in the metal and rock fields, applying myself in various musical projects. In 2012 I became acquainted with the Voices Association, and with Maestro Eleonora Bruni I perfected the study of modern singing and extreme singing techniques initially learned as a self-taught. In 2014 I attended a six-day seminar on overtones singing at the same association with Tran Quang Hai, Demetrio Stratos' teacher, in the summer of 2017, again at the Voices Association, I receive the certificate of participation in the seminar "Ali e Abissi ”, On extreme singing techniques, held by teachers Eleonora Bruni and Erika Biavati. In January 2020 I attend the masterclass "From technique to stage" at the same association. For many years, my goal as a performer has been to integrate heterogeneous vocal styles as best as possible and understand the profound functioning of vocal mechanisms in relation to different styles and individual vocals, in an eclectic and conscious way. I currently have collaborations under my belt and I'm recording a record with the Roman death-progressive metal band “Gravestone” under the Elevate Records label, where I use both extreme singing and an operatic style.

About the lesson

My approach to singing is aimed at developing a solid understanding of the vocal mechanisms (primary registers) at the base of any singing style, trying to then decline the management of the same according to the aesthetics required by the specific genre (secondary registers therefore). The path will be structured ad personam, according to the objectives of the person concerned. I do not advocate a clear division between singing techniques as a necessity, in fact I believe it is a choice. Different vocalizations and specific songs will be studied depending on the style and form: Aria (leading repertoire, baroque, beautiful cantistico, verista for example) or song (rock, metal, pop) trying to fit properly into the genre through an understanding of the characteristics harmonic, melodic and rhythmic context in question.
