About Jaime
All children can learn to read! From young ones who struggle with letters and sounds to older students who are frustrated and need to unlearn before they can relearn. No student is impossible if they believe and are partnered with the right educator.
As a lifetime educator I have helped over 500 teachers increase their instruction of reading. Many of the schools I have worked in have increased overall reading proficiency in a short time, one school even grew from 13% to 52% literacy proficiency in one year!
I believe students grow as teachers grow and together this strengthens our collective capacity as a society.

Not all students learn the same or have the same needs. By conducting an initial diagnostic assessment I can determine a tailored learning path for your literacy journey. Instruction will use methods from Science of Reading for foundational reading skills, combined with practical comprehension strategies within a variety of genres.A typical lesson will include teacher models of skills, shared practice and student led application time.
Having worked as a Reading Specialist for two decades within a number of settings such as rural, urban, international and suburban, I have gained an understanding of the wide scope of needs students encounter when learning to read. The completion of my earned doctorate has scaffolded my passion for education with academic competency.
These tutoring sessions are best suited for early readers, struggling readers or adults learning to read later in life.
