About Jia Shing
Hi! I'm Jia Shing, a dedicated Math tutor with a degree in Financial Actuarial Mathematics from UCLA, where I graduated in the top 5% of my class. I've always enjoyed solving problems and uncovering patterns in Math, and that curiosity naturally led me to pursue a career built around it. During my own studies, I discovered that success in Math isn’t just about talent—it’s about approach. That’s why I’m passionate about helping students break through their learning barriers using proven techniques like the Feynman Method, Spaced Repetition, and Active Recall. These strategies helped me tackle university-level topics, and they’re just as powerful for secondary and pre-university students. KPI & Learning Plan: ∙ Every student starts with a short diagnostic to identify strengths, gaps, and goals. ∙ Learning plan based on: (1) Current Syllabus; (2) Timeline until exams or school assessments; and (3) Preferred Pace and Learning Style Key Focus Areas: ∙ Mastery of core topics ∙ Application through past paper practice ∙ Exam technique and time management ∙ Regular progress reviews (bi-weekly or monthly) I use past papers as a core part of training — not just for practice, but to train pattern recognition and expose students to real exam formats. Lessons are structured but flexible, with room to revisit weak areas and deepen understanding. Progress is measured through: ∙ Past paper scores over time ∙ Speed and accuracy in problem-solving ∙ Confidence in approaching unfamiliar problems
