About Sophia
Learning is the process of researching one's own way of understanding. I believe every student is capable of succeeding in science, whether or not it becomes your career. My goal as a teacher is to inspire students to be curious and engaged with the content, and then to provide the tools for them to solve both real-life and exam-specific problems. I have an exceptional academic background with an outstanding high school (NZQA Scholarship in Calculus, Physics, Statistics, English, Music) and college transcript (4.0 GPA at Amherst College). My career goal is to become a professor and renowned researcher in the field of quantum information processing. I am deeply passionate toward applying science to tangible and constructive purposes in society, and I care deeply about our relationship with science as a society. Aside from my research and teaching positions, I am an avid sailor, musician, and gardener who enjoys art and the outdoors.

I have been tutoring high school level for four years and have been a teaching assistant for undergraduate courses for two years. I excel at preparing students for rigorous, time-constrained exams through wise preparation and training strategies. I tailor my teaching methods to the skills and interests of the student, allowing them to develop innate curiosity toward the content as well as a strong knowledge foundation. I am able to teach content, reinforce learning done at school, and challenge existing knowledge as it best suits the student.
