About Qarina

I’m from China, Mandarin is my mother tongue. I have finished my bachelor degree in Belfast, and I am currently studying my second degree in York. I've been in UK for four years. I was really good at Maths and English when I was young, my classmates always asked me to teach them because they thought I could explain more clearly than teachers and my style was more acceptable. For teaching experience, I've been teaching Mandarin for more than 1 year. I really enjoy teaching and I provide each of my student with customized teaching way and style. Moreover, I am a language lover. I learned Spanish(Level 1), Korean(Level 4) and Japanese(Level 1) lessons in Language Centre of Queen's University Belfast. I can fully understand how people feel when study a new language. Therefore, I usually would take some time with my students together to find out the best way to learn Mandarin.

About the lesson

Based on my own experience and classes in Language Centre of Queen's University of Belfast, I prefer teaching by guiding people to practice more in my class. Learning is a process. People need reputation and application to grasp the skill. So I would like to encourage them to imitate and repeat more in my class to make sure that they all understand. In addition, I will state clearly before asking my students to practice and give them chance to ask questions to make sure that they all catch up. But most importantly, I’d like to create and provide Chinese atmosphere for my students, that will make them easier to know about the culture and the language.

Details

I use the HSK course series of textbook, and use Microsoft Teams for webcam. I would share the materials that helpful for preview in advanced in the shared file on Teams. And after each lesson, I would publish the homework list and the note of the lesson for review.

The lesson structure basically will be: 1. review the mistakes in homework 2. rapid review about last lesson (if need) 3. details in new knowledges and focus on practicing 4. summary 5. Q&A
