About Austin
I am a TEFL-certified English teacher and an official examiner for Cambridge, IELTS, and Pearson, which means I assess these exams professionally, and I bring that same understanding of what examiners look for directly into my lessons. Rather than generic conversation practice, I teach with a clear sense of how language is actually evaluated at each level, so students preparing for exams know exactly what standard they're working toward.
My teaching covers two main areas: exam preparation for Cambridge, IELTS, TOEFL, TOEIC, and Pearson qualifications, and Business English for professionals who need clear, confident communication for meetings, negotiations, presentations, and written correspondence. Lessons are structured, not improvised: each one builds on the last, with a clear focus and concrete feedback so you always know what you're working on and why.
I have lived and worked internationally for most of the past two decades, which shapes how I approach teaching English as a genuinely global, practical skill rather than a purely academic subject. My goal in every lesson is straightforward: give you the specific tools and honest feedback you need to reach your goal, whether that's passing an exam or communicating with confidence at work.

My approach centers on exam-specific strategy, not just general English improvement. As an official examiner for Cambridge, IELTS and Pearson, I know precisely how these tests are scored, and I structure every lesson around what the marking criteria actually reward, not generic conversation practice. For Business English students, I focus on the communication skills used in real professional contexts: meetings, negotiation, written correspondence, and presentations, rather than textbook dialogues.
A typical lesson starts with a short review of previous material, moves into a focused skill-building segment (a specific exam task type, or a workplace communication scenario), and ends with targeted feedback and a clear task to work on before the next session. I adjust pacing to the individual student rather than following a fixed syllabus.
What sets me apart is examiner-side insight into how these tests are actually graded, combined with 18+ years of international experience, which shapes how I coach professional and business communication. I've lived abroad for most of the past two decades, including nearly 12 years in Italy, and I bring that cross-cultural fluency into how I teach.
My lessons are for adult professionals and serious students preparing for Cambridge, IELTS, TOEFL, TOEIC, or Pearson exams, as well as those needing English for workplace advancement, international business, or career transitions. I do not currently teach young children.
