About Ayisha

A homeschooling mom of 5, writing was always one of my favorite subjects and as a student growing up I often enjoyed helping other kids with their writing exercises. Later on, as an adult, I spent several years working as a professional SEO article writer, doing extensive research for a variety of topics for my many clients until I became a mom. Now, I want to help other children learn how to write well so they can enjoy writing, create polished written pieces for their schoolwork and be able to use this valuable skill in their adult working lives.

About the lesson

I offer Joel Saltzman style (“If You Can Talk You Can Write”) zoom tutoring. In my sessions I work on freeing kids up from common anxieties toward spelling and grammar and help them focus on cultivating the ability to clearly communicate in writing, all while helping them develop their own personal writing style through student dictation and assisted editing exercises.

Typical lessons will include an explanation of how my student basically already knows how to write simply because they can talk. I help my students put worries about proper grammar usage and spelling aside by asking them to imagine telling a friend or family member about the topic they need to write about and getting them to dictate what they would ‘say’ to them so I can write it down.

Next, we go over the material and edit the piece as a whole then look for where each sentence may need editing to ensure the writing is structured properly, reads smoothly and communicates the necessary ideas and subjects clearly. Grammar is then more easily checked as it simply becomes a matter of “saying everything right” and my students have a chance to develop their own writing “voice” in the process.

My lessons are for students in grades 3 - 7, who need to learn or improve their writing skills.
