About Tanya
Hi! I’m a current student studying in Withington Girls’ school (Ranked 20 nationally) and I achieved a Grade 9 in GCSE English, with the highest mark in my school. I understand what it takes to succeed in English exams, and I’m here to help you get there too.
I enjoy teaching because I find it really rewarding to help others understand things that once felt difficult. I know that English can sometimes feel confusing or overwhelming, especially when it comes to essays and analysis, but with the right support and approach, it can become much more manageable—and even enjoyable.
My goal is to create a relaxed and supportive environment where you feel comfortable asking questions, improving your skills, and building confidence in your work. I’ll work with you step by step to help you achieve your goals and feel proud of your progress.

My approach to teaching is centred around building both confidence and academic ability. I believe that every student learns differently, so I adapt my teaching style to suit each individual, whether that involves breaking down complex ideas into simpler steps or pushing high-achieving students towards top-grade responses.
I focus on developing strong foundations in essay writing, including structure, argument, and clear expression, while also helping students engage more deeply with texts through analysis and interpretation. I place particular emphasis on exam technique, ensuring students understand how to approach questions effectively and maximise their marks.
Lessons are supportive, structured, and engaging, creating an environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making progress. My aim is not only to improve grades but also to help students become more confident and independent learners.
