About Journey
Hi! My name is Journey Myricks, and I am a New York State certified K-6 educator with several years of experience teaching and supporting elementary-aged students.
I earned my Master of Arts in Teaching from Relay Graduate School of Education and completed my undergraduate studies at SUNY Plattsburgh. My classroom experience has taught me how important it is to meet students where they are, identify gaps in understanding, and explain concepts in ways that feel clear and approachable.
As a tutor, I strive to create a patient, structured, and encouraging learning environment. Math can sometimes feel overwhelming for students, especially when they have missed an important foundational skill. I work with students step by step to strengthen those skills while helping them become more independent problem-solvers.
Each session is tailored to the student’s academic needs, whether they are working on foundational math skills, completing homework, reviewing classroom concepts, preparing for an assessment, or looking for additional practice.
My goal is for students to leave each session feeling more capable, more confident, and better prepared to tackle math independently.

Elementary Mathematics:
Does your child need extra support with math concepts, homework, or building confidence with problem-solving? I offer personalized elementary mathematics tutoring for students in grades K-6.
I am a New York State certified K-6 teacher with several years of classroom experience working with elementary students. I also hold a Master of Arts in Teaching from Relay Graduate School of Education, along with bachelor’s degrees from SUNY Plattsburgh.
Tutoring sessions are designed around each student’s individual needs and learning style. I focus on helping students understand why a strategy works rather than simply memorizing steps.
Areas of support may include:
