About Catherine
I am a nurturing veteran teacher who has taught for 12 years at the elementary level. I spent my first 7 years teaching 1st grade in Rock Falls, IL and the past 4 years teaching 3rd grade in Rochelle, IL. While in Rock Falls, I received a grant to obtain my ESL certificate from Northern Illinois University. I have also worked with numerous students through after-school programs and during our local summer camp. I am always striving to become a better teacher and and open to new methods of teaching if I believe they will help my students! Every student that has ever walked into my class has become a part of my life and I am fully invested in making sure every child reaches his/her maximum potential!

When first meeting students, my number one priority is to make sure they know that I care for them and I am invested in their growth, both personal and academic! I strive to find various methods of teaching new topics and skills so that all learners understand the material and feel successful. I am open to new ideas, methods, and questions from peers and from students- I truly believe that I can learn just as much from my students as they can learn from me!
