About Lucas
I find that the best way to understand a tutor is by their experience in the field. I received a Northwestern grant to design a C++-based synthesizer using the JUCE framework, which allowed users to manipulate harmonic structures of sound. Additionally, I collaborated with a team at The Garage at Northwestern to create Sidekick, a Chrome extension that leverages the OpenAI API and public domain literature to help writers enhance story structure and thematic consistency. These projects required not only technical execution but also creativity, teamwork, and end-user focus. At the research level, I helped assemble a dataset of over 30,000 patents at SONIC Laboratory. These patents were compared using an actor attribute model which allowed us to compare the identifiers of authors and whether success on one patent has an effect on future patent applications. Later in my work at SONIC, I developed a natural language processor, which tokenized the text and created around 900,000 similarity scores between pairs of patents.

I served as a tutor and teaching assistant for Python and robotics courses, where I led classes of 20 students, hosted one-on-one tutoring sessions, and graded coursework.
