About Nick
- What kind of experience do you have?
I have a lot of teaching and performing experience. I have been playing guitar for 14 years now and I have been teaching professionally for 7 years. I have also performed all over the country with various bands and projects, and have a vast knowledge of the music industry.
- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
Yes
- Where and with whom did you train?
London College of Music/University of West London. Taught by John Wheatcroft and Jim Clark.
- What kind of experience do you have?
I picked up the guitar at the age of 10, and have never looked back since. The sounds of guitarists such as Jimi Hendrix, Jeff beck, Eric Clapton and many more gave me a keen interest in Blues and Rock from an early age. I continued to play guitar and study music throughout high school. I was self taught until I went to Tech Music Schools in London and graduated with a BMus (Hons) degree in Music Performance. There I was taught by jazz virtuoso John Wheatcroft, as well as undergoing private teaching from rock specialist Jim Clark. This helped kick start my career in becoming a full time professional guitarist.
I have played at some of the most prestigious venues across London and the UK, including Shepherds Bush Empire, O2 Islington Academy, The Borderline, as well as many others, and I have also had experience in a variety of session work and cover projects.
I was the lead guitarist in rock band New Device (Abstract Sounds Records) and can be heard on the bands second album 'Here we stand'.
I teach a number of private guitar lessons, as well as teaching in various London schools. I teach a variety of music from Classical and Jazz, to Rock and Pop styles. I also teach high levels of composition, music theory, and sound engineering/mixing.
Currently, I have just finished my Further Education teacher training and am now a qualified lecturer. Since 2014, I have worked as a Music Lecturer at Uxbridge College. My main duties included delivering on the Level 2 & 3 Extended Diploma in Music and Music Technology.
I am an experienced and versatile UK guitar tutor and performer with over 15 years playing experience, as well as 7 years experience as a professional musician. With this in mind, you can be certain that I am dedicated to music and passionate about sharing it with others.
- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
Yes, I am on the DBS Update Service.
- Where and with whom did you train?
I trained at the University of West London (Tech Music Schools) and had lessons from a variety of tutors including Jim Clark and John Wheatcroft.
