About Sophie Ann
Hello, my name’s Sophie, and I’m a DBS-checked Trainee Clinical Psychologist on the Coventry and Warwickshire Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (DClinPsych) course. I am currently nearing the end of my third year, due to qualify at the end of September 2020. Please see below for my academic and clinical experience.
In terms of tutoring and mentoring experience, I have tutored Psychology A-Level in the past, but am now looking to tutor under-graduate and post-graduate psychology only - all session online via Skype/Zoom/Microsoft Teams. I am currently a mentor for the Masters (MSc) psychology students at Birmingham City University.
My areas of specialist interest mainly revolve around neuropsychology and forensic psychology services. I am currently on my final placement at St Basil’s, a Digbeth-based charity for children and young people at risk of homelessness.
I am a practicing Buddhist, living in a Buddhist Community in Birmingham. I have also worked as a Buddhist Prison Chaplain in the past. This side of my life very much influences my clinical practice, with a real passion for mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), amongst others.
Post-training, I am hoping to work in forensic services and perhaps have a private practice also. I have not ruled out moving abroad to experience different demographics and systemic influences on psychological presentations.
In spare time I like to meditate, keep fit, spend time with friends and bake (vegan) delights (or so I like to think!).
