My teaching strategy is to make my lesson fun and enjoyable to learn, as I believe interest towards a subject (especially language) plays an important role. I am not a fan of the traditional rote memorization style of learning, I have to admit that sometimes this method is useful, however, it can make students lose their interest in learning a foreign language. As a learner of the French language, I totally understand how it would be like, if the interest and motivation to learn is lost. I'm resourceful and love to include a lot of games and a wide variety of activities for my students to practice things that I've taught them, I always experimenting with new teaching strategies that may work for them, as a result, my students really enjoy the games and activities I have designed for them. Lastly, I am passionate about making engaging teaching materials and using rich resources.
I am a native Chinese teacher who was born in the capital of China, Beijing. I went to Singapore to continue my education at the age of 13 and stayed for 7 years. When I was back in Singapore, I home-tutored some Chinese lessons on the weekends, with the help from my mum who is a professional Chinese Teacher. At the age of 19, I moved to Wellington, New Zealand to studying filmmaking, eventually, I've explored my passion in teaching. Then I went back to my university and did another year of the Graduate Diploma in Teaching Secondary in 2020, and now I am a New Zealand registered full-time teacher who teaches the subject Chinese and Technology (computer science) at a local state high school.
