About Cynthia
Guitar teaching is part of a five-year tutoring career during which I have guided 205 students, from complete beginners to more experienced players developing their own style. My own musical journey includes years of songwriting and informal performance, which shapes my strong belief that creativity and technical discipline reinforce rather than oppose each other. I am an encouraging, creative tutor, and I actively push students to experiment with their own musical ideas rather than only playing pieces written by someone else. Many students arrive believing they simply are not creative or musical people, and helping them discover otherwise is deeply rewarding.

My guitar lessons blend solid technical foundation with genuine creative exploration, encouraging students to experiment with writing their own simple riffs or songs alongside structured practice. I introduce music theory practically, showing students exactly how a chord progression or scale applies to music they already enjoy rather than presenting theory in isolation. Technique exercises stay short and focused, since I find brief, well targeted practice consistently outperforms long repetitive drills. I record short instructional clips for tricky techniques regularly for home review and practice. Every few weeks I dedicate a session purely to informal performance or recording, helping students build genuine confidence.
