My teaching method includes learning alongside the student. I do not aim to simulate a day in class but make learning comfortable through a conversational approach. We tackle a subject or topic together using proven practices for memory consolidation and retrieval. A typical lesson plan includes starting from the base topic and identifying struggle areas for learning. We will then dive into the struggle areas first, gathering a deeper understanding using techniques such as mnemonics or emotional retention to make them make sense and stick. We then reinforce areas that the student is already comfortable with to ensure that they are not lost to the forgetting curve. What sets me apart as a tutor is that I understand how hard it is to memorize and understand some subject matter. This is why I pursued a Ph.D. in Neuroscience to better understand the learning, acquisition, and retrieval process that encompasses forming strong memories. With this expertise, I am able to connect with students on their thinking level and relate subject matter in a way that resonates, making it as easy to remember as your birthday. My lessons are for high school juniors and seniors looking to take the ACT and SAT, as well as college-level students looking to take the GRE, GMAT, LSAT, or MCAT.
