About Samuel
As you may have previously read I am currently and undergraduate student studying Neuroscience at Brigham Young University. I took a plethora of Spanish courses in high school and immersed myself completely in the language for two years after graduation during service mission for my church. After the mission I translated in a primary care clinic at The Ohio State University, which introduced me to even more Spanish terminology. This past semester I tested out of more than 20 credit hours of university level Spanish and did well in my 3rd year Spanish level course. I also recently spent some time in Spain which was an amazing experience. I taught English to native Spanish speakers through a course called English connect as well. A little bit more about me, I also have been playing the Piano for about 17 years and can tutor almost any STEM subject at the high school level, this includes math. I am also willing to teach Piano if there is anyone interested.

Right now I am advertising myself as a Spanish teacher. The methodology that I use to teach Spanish is unique but effective. With it I became conversational in around 6-12 weeks. It starts with the alphabet and then transitions to a focus on reading out loud and pronunciation. I have never been a huge fan of reading textbooks and learning about grammar principles. As a native English speaker that is not how I learned English. I believe that Spanish proficiency is developed through speaking the language and learning to communicate effectively. Of course, some knowledge of the grammar is needed, as well as a wide range of vocabulary. However I still learn new things every day in both Spanish and English. To learn vocabulary, instead of focusing on topics of discussion, I like to use frequency lists, which help identify the most commonly used words in the language. This enables learners to become conversational very quickly. My Spanish lessons are for the absolute beginner up to the end of the high school level. I am currently studying in college so I most likely will not be able to add much to a college level Spanish education, but I can definitely add my insights.
