About Alexis
I'm originally from Nashville and moved to South Dakota to pursue my PhD in neuroscience — a big transition that's given me a real appreciation for students who are navigating change, pressure, or just a tough course load. Outside of school and the lab, I love cooking, reading, playing video games, and spending time with my cats, who I call my kids. I'm patient, warm, and genuinely invested in the students I work with. I believe tutoring isn't just about getting through an assignment, it's about helping someone build the confidence and understanding they need to keep going long after our session ends.

I'm a neuroscience PhD student at USD with a bachelor's degree in Biochemistry and Cellular & Molecular Biology from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. I've been tutoring since high school and have worked with students at every level — elementary, middle school, high school, and college — across a variety of subjects. I focus on building real understanding rather than memorization, and I work with each student to find what actually clicks for them.
