About Manav
Why would I spend time with some random stranger every week? Hey, My Name is Manav Desai. I am currently a year 13 student in Hamilton Boys' High School, who gained 74 excellence credits in NCEA Level 1 and a record-breaking 91 Excellence credits in Level 2. In addition to this, I am a Lion Mentor, helping students battle the hardships of starting high school. I found my passion for teaching when I was asked to tutor someone from my school, which I loved so much that I lost track of time and it resulted in the student going from getting an average of 41% to 82% in Math. Sometimes the students become so friendly with me, I have to remind them about why their parents pay me. I am results-driven and know the boundary between results and enjoyment. Length: Approximately 1 Hour Experience: 2 Years and Dozens of Students helped. Age-Range: NZ English Speaking, high school students. Subjects: Mathematics and Statistics, High School Algebra and Calculus. My Method for Excellence and Success: Going through NZ high school myself, I realized early on that high school was "for everyone and no one in particular". I teach the student holistically, not just for Math but also problem solving, critical thinking and enabling them with methods to fly in high school. I also believe strongly in doing rather than just watching. It first starts by building a connection, not by being a strict and boring tutor but being someone they can share thoughts and challenge ideas with. For the parents: I also provide a breakdown of what we learned and how your child is performing after every lesson. In addition to that I will provide ways that your child can boost their performance. And if you allow your child to carry phones, and if they are allowed to communicate online, then that's great because I allow all my students to give me a message or call anytime they are stuck with something or need help with a test coming up, and this online communication has no extra fee.
