About Damla

Hi! My name is Damla, and I’m a native Turkish speaker originally from Türkiye, currently studying Applied Business and Computer Information Systems at Quinnipiac University in the U.S. I’m also a Division I volleyball athlete, which has helped shape my discipline, time management, and communication skills—traits I bring into every tutoring session. As someone living abroad, I understand what it’s like to learn and adapt to a new language and culture. That’s why I love helping others connect with Turkish in a fun, relaxed, and meaningful way. I’m passionate about teaching not just the language, but also the culture, traditions, and real-life expressions that make Turkish so unique. Outside of school and volleyball, I enjoy traveling, meeting new people, and exploring global perspectives. My goal is to create a friendly and encouraging environment for students of all ages and backgrounds—whether you're learning Turkish for school, travel, personal growth, or professional reasons. About the lesson

As a native Turkish speaker and an international college student in the U.S., I bring a dynamic and culturally rich approach to teaching Turkish. My lessons are interactive, supportive, and designed to help students build real-world confidence—whether you're just starting out or looking to advance your fluency.

I focus on conversational Turkish, pronunciation, listening comprehension, and vocabulary-building through real-life examples, everyday topics, and cultural insights. My teaching method is very learner-centered: I adapt to each student’s pace, goals, and interests, making the experience fun, practical, and personalized.

A typical lesson starts with a quick warm-up (reviewing vocabulary or phrases), followed by a main focus topic like grammar, daily conversation, or a cultural theme (like food, traditions, or slang). We finish with speaking practice and a short recap to make sure everything sticks. I also love using games, visuals, and mini role-plays to keep things engaging.

What sets me apart is my international perspective and ability to relate to students from diverse backgrounds. As a Division I athlete, I’m also highly disciplined, encouraging, and patient—which helps me create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable making mistakes and improving.

These lessons are ideal for beginners, intermediate learners, or anyone preparing to visit or move to Turkey, as well as those with a general interest in the Turkish language and culture. Whether you're learning for school, travel, business, or fun—I’m here to help you speak confidently and connect with the language in a meaningful way.
