About Jiarui
Hello, my preferred name is Helen. I'm an international undergraduate student at Monash University, I had my high school life in Melbourne as well. My first language is Mandarin which is also written in simplified Chinese.
I like the teaching because in Chinese we say "教jiao学xue 相xiang长zhang“which means teaching benefits both teachers and students. I had a teaching experience in a Chinese charitable institution for Year 6 and Year 3, teaching them Chinese and English for a year.
I'm pretty interested in Chinese ancient culture and traditions, such as the food, dress, decorations, folklore etc. And I believe if you want to really comprehend a language it's necessary to know what's the thing behind it --The background of this language.

For people who don't speak Chinese as their first language, being able to communicate with others and understand what do other people saying is the most important thing.
In my class, if you are a beginner in Chinese learning we will start with pronouncing Chinese characters correctly so that you would know what people say which is the foundation for studying Chinese.
Throughout the class, we won't be reading boring characters every minute, I will introduce you to something you may be interested in about China, like, fairy tales, folklore, food, decorations, or the city you liked. So we study through the culture and the language.
I had a teaching experience in a Chinese charitable institution for Year 6 and Year 3, teaching them Chinese and English.
My lessons are mainly for those who just begin learning Chinese, or the age of 8 to 15.
