About Wen

Hello! I am a native Mandarin speaker from China. I am currently doing a PhD in Linguistics specializing in Second Language Acquisition in Australia, and I hold a Master's degree in Translation from the UK. With this academic background, I have a strong understanding of language structure, communication strategies, and the challenges learners face when studying a second language. As someone who has also learned and lived with foreign languages, I truly understand the difficulties and joys of language learning. This allows me to be patient, supportive, and creative when helping my students. In my lessons, I aim to create a friendly and encouraging environment where you feel comfortable practicing Mandarin, making mistakes, and improving step by step. I believe language learning should be both effective and enjoyable. Outside of teaching, I enjoy exploring cultures, reading, and meeting people from different backgrounds. I would love to not only help you improve your Mandarin but also share with you the richness of Chinese culture. I look forward to meeting you and supporting your learning journey!

About the lesson

I do not require students to buy a specific textbook. We can:

·Use materials you already have (school/university textbooks, HSK books, exam prep guides);

·Work with authentic resources such as short articles, videos, dialogues, or news clips.

·Create personalized materials based on your interests (e.g., culture, travel, hobbies).

Lessons usually include a balance of:

·Speaking and listening practice (to build confidence in real communication)

·Reading and vocabulary building

·Pronunciation and grammar support

·Cultural insights into Chinese language use
