About Jin Hui

Hello! I'm Jinnie, a native Korean tutor currently living in the UK.

I have around two years of tutoring experience, teaching both children and adults. I currently teach Korean through one-to-one and two-to-one in-person lessons in the UK, helping students achieve a variety of goals, from everyday conversation and travel to preparing for TOPIK and learning Korean for work.

Before becoming a Korean tutor, I volunteered as an English tutor for primary school students in South Korea, where I discovered how rewarding it is to help others build confidence in a new language.

I graduated with a BA (Hons) in Business Management and Marketing from the University of Derby. Studying and living abroad has strengthened my communication skills and helped me understand the challenges of learning a new language in a completely different environment.

When I first moved to the UK, I spoke very little English, so I know how overwhelming learning a new language can feel. Because of that experience, I always aim to create a supportive, encouraging and enjoyable learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes.

Outside of teaching, I enjoy cooking, exploring new recipes and working on creative projects. I love bringing creativity into my lessons by designing personalised learning materials and interactive activities that make learning Korean both fun and practical.

About the lesson

I believe that learning a language should be enjoyable, practical, and confidence-building rather than just memorising grammar and vocabulary.

When I first moved to the UK, I spoke very little English and went straight into university. Learning a new language from scratch in a completely new environment taught me how challenging—and sometimes intimidating—it can be. Because of this experience, I understand what my students are going through, and I aim to create a relaxed, supportive environment where making mistakes is part of the learning process.

Every student has different goals. Some want to travel to Korea, some love K-pop or K-dramas, while others are preparing for TOPIK or learning Korean for work. I tailor every lesson to each student's interests, learning style and pace so that lessons are both effective and enjoyable.

My lessons combine textbooks with my own PowerPoint presentations, conversation practice, role plays, games and cultural topics. Rather than focusing only on memorisation, I help students use Korean naturally in real-life situations and build confidence in speaking from the very beginning.

I currently teach Korean to adult learners through both one-to-one and two-to-one in-person lessons in the UK. Before becoming a Korean tutor, I also volunteered as an English tutor for primary school students in South Korea. Over the past two years of tutoring, I have learnt how to adapt my teaching style to suit learners of different ages, backgrounds and abilities.

Lessons are usually 60 or 120 minutes, depending on your preference and learning goals. I welcome beginners to intermediate learners, and no previous knowledge of Korean is required. Since I can explain concepts in English, complete beginners can feel comfortable learning step by step.

My goal is not only to teach Korean, but to help you enjoy learning it and feel confident using it in everyday life. I look forward to helping you on your Korean learning journey!
