About HYUNYOUNG

Hi! I’m Eileen. I’m a native Korean speaker from Seoul, currently studying for a Master’s degree in Digital Media in the UK.

I studied at Hanyang University in Korea and have also lived and studied abroad in Germany and Australia. Because I’ve experienced learning foreign languages myself, I understand how confusing or intimidating it can feel to speak a new language at first.

I also have plenty of experience teaching Korean to learners from different backgrounds, so I’m familiar with the kinds of questions and difficulties students often have. I always try to explain Korean in a simple and approachable way, rather than making it feel overly complicated.

I have also taken the TOPIK exam myself, so I can help students who are interested in understanding the exam structure, improving their Korean skills, or preparing for TOPIK alongside general language learning.

Alongside teaching, I have several years of experience working in media and PR, including projects related to K-pop, fashion, international events, and Korean cultural content. This means I can help you understand not only the Korean language, but also the culture and context behind the expressions you hear in music, media, and everyday life.

I speak English and German, and I also have experience learning Japanese and Chinese, so I understand the challenges of learning a new language and can explain Korean concepts in a clear and approachable way for international students.

I’m friendly, patient, and always happy to answer questions. My goal is to make students feel comfortable speaking Korean without being afraid of making mistakes.

About the lesson

My lessons are friendly, practical, and tailored to each student’s goals

Rather than simply memorising vocabulary or grammar rules, I like to help students understand how Korean is actually used in real conversations. I explain things step by step, using simple examples so that even difficult grammar feels easier to understand.

A typical lesson is around 60 minutes and can include a mix of conversation practice, pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar, listening, and natural expressions. We can also focus on specific goals such as travel Korean, everyday conversation, TOPIK preparation, or improving speaking confidence.

I also love using topics that students are genuinely interested in. If you enjoy K-pop, Korean dramas, entertainment, fashion, food, or Korean culture, we can bring those topics into the lesson and learn useful expressions through real-life examples.

For beginners, I can guide you from Hangul and basic phrases step by step. If you already know some Korean, we can focus more on conversation, correcting unnatural expressions, and helping you sound more fluent and confident.

Most importantly, I want my lessons to feel comfortable and encouraging. Making mistakes is completely okay — it’s one of the best ways to improve!
