About Hinako
Hi, I’m Hinako, a native Japanese speaker from Japan.
I studied International Relations at university, which deepened my interest in different cultures and the connections between people. I’m a calm and patient person, and I genuinely enjoy meeting people from different backgrounds.
I currently live in New Zealand with my foreign partner. We regularly teach each other our languages, which has given me a personal understanding of how exciting, but sometimes challenging, it can be to communicate in another language.
I decided to offer Japanese lessons because I would love to help people who are interested in Japan learn the language and discover more about Japanese life and culture. I also want to enjoy that learning journey together with my students.
I love cooking and baking, so Japanese food and everyday life are some of my favorite topics to talk about.
I hope to create a welcoming space where you can be yourself, ask questions, make mistakes, and enjoy speaking Japanese with confidence.

My lessons are relaxed and conversation-based, with a focus on helping you feel comfortable speaking Japanese.
We can talk about everyday life, Japanese food, cooking, culture, travel, or topics you enjoy. I’ll adjust the pace and difficulty to your level and gently correct mistakes when helpful.
Lessons are suitable for beginners and intermediate learners, and typically last 45–60 minutes.
I’m a native Japanese speaker with a degree in International Relations. While I’m new to tutoring professionally, I regularly practise language exchange with my foreign partner, so I understand how challenging it can be to speak a new language.
My goal is to create a friendly, patient space where you can practise Japanese without fear of making mistakes.
